Evolving Models of Gas Behaviour Our knowledge and understanding of the behaviour of gases has changed significantly over time The gas laws were developed by many scientists over thousands o...
Defining Sin, Cos and Tan What is the unit circle? The unit circle is a circle with radius 1 and centre (0, 0) Angles are always measured from the positive x-axis and turn: anticlockwise for positi...
Brownian Motion Brownian motion of particles is the phenomenon when: Small particles (such as pollen or smoke particles) suspended in a liquid or gas are observed to move around in a random,...
Average Molecular Kinetic Energy An important property of molecules in a gas is their average kinetic energy This can be deduced from the ideal gas equations relating pressure, volume, tempe...
Bearings What are bearings? Bearings are a way of describing and using directions as angles They are specifically defined for use in navigation because they give a precise location and/or direction...
What is the sine rule? The sine rule allows us to find missing side lengths or angles in non-right-angled triangles It states that for any triangle with angles A, B and C Where a is the side opposi...
What is the Pythagorean theorem? Pythagoras’ theorem is a formula that works for right-angled triangles only It states that for any right-angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to t...
What is volume? The volume of a 3D shape is a measure of how much 3D space it takes up A 3D shape is also called a solid You need to be able to calculate the volume of a number of common shapes How...
Kinetic Theory of Gases Equation Assumptions in Kinetic Theory Gases consist of atoms or molecules randomly moving around at high speeds The kinetic theory of gases models the thermodynamic ...
