At Shanghai American School, our students benefit from the practices of leading educators well-versed in how to best address students’ ever-evolving needs.

But there are some SAS practices that we believe could benefit all students.

Take digital device usage, for example. At SAS, our counselors and tech coaches have collaborated to create a programmatic approach to digital citizenship – one that provides an opportunity for both students and teachers to engage in conversation and reflection around digital balance, digital life vs. reality, social media, etc. These are lessons that are important for the broader Shanghai community to know. So that’s exactly where we’ve taken the message.

以使用电子设备为例。在上海美国学校，我们的辅导员和技术教练携手合作，以程序化的方法应对数字公民身份这一话题——让老师和学生有机会围绕数字平衡、数字生活与现实、社交媒体等开展对话，进行反思。这些经验应该让更多在上海的人知道。而我们正是这样做的。

On Wednesday, K-12 tech coordinator Annalee Higginbottom and school counselor Jennifer Joseph, both from SAS’ Pudong campus, were invited by Shanghai United Family to take the stage at a “Clinician’s Corner” event alongside Dr. Sharon Yen, a clinical psychologist, to discuss Internet Addiction Disorder.

周三，来自上海美国学校浦东校区的K-12技术协调员Annalee Higginbottom和学校辅导员Jennifer Joseph受到上海和睦家新城医院的邀请，参加“Clinician’s Corner”活动，与临床心理学家Sharon Yen博士一起讨论网络成瘾综合症。

The invitation offered an opportunity to help families see beyond the “all or nothing” mindset. We believe it’s important for all students to find balance in this digital world with their devices, and for students and parents to understand how to use them in a way that is beneficial.

这次活动给大家提供了一个机会，摆脱“全都有或全都没有”的思维。我们相信，所有学生都应当在数字时代的设备使用过程中找到平衡，学生和家长需要理解如何以有益的方式使用电子设备。
