申请转学与申请大学本科非常相似。你将被要求展示学术能力，性格的力量，和对机构的兴趣。你需要优秀的成绩、课外参与/领导能力、简历、个人陈述(PS)等。

然而，转学和本科申请有两个主要的区别需要注意：

1. 你的大学成绩将比你的高中成绩更重要，甚至你的SAT/ACT成绩也会比高中成绩更重要(这取决于你上大学的时间)。
2. 你将被期望在你的申请中显示出成熟和自我意识。大学希望转校生有很多时间来考虑他们的学术道路。他们希望你简明扼要地解释为什么你现在的大学不能满足你的需求(不要展示消极的一面)，以及为什么你申请的大学能满足这些需求。申请中不能有任何不确定性。如果你不能清楚地表明你了解自己和自己的需求，你就进不了大学(大学不想给那些后来可能改变主意再次转学的人提供转学名额)。正因为如此，作为一名转学生，你需要为每一所大学量身定制每一份申请。

Applying is a transfer student is very similar to applying as a Freshman. You will be required to demonstrate academic ability, strength of character, and interest in an institution. You will need strong grades, extracurricular involvement / leadership, letters of rec, personal statements, etc.

There are, however, two primary differences to be aware of...

1) Your university grades will be more important than your high school grades, and (depending on how long you have been in university) even your SAT/ACT scores.

2) You will be expected to display maturity and a sense of self in your application. Universities expect that transfer students have had a lot of time to consider their academic paths. They expect you to succinctly explain why your current university won't meet your needs (without being negative) and why the university to which you are applying WILL meet those needs. You cannot have any uncertainties in your application. If you don't clearly show that you know yourself and your needs, you will not get in (universities don't want to give a transfer spot to someone who might later change their mind and transfer yet again). It is for this reason that, as a transfer student, you need to tailor each and every one of the applications to the individual universities.
