And here we are again, friends, wrapping up another incredible school year. What were some highlights and memorable moments? Are you kidding? Where would we even begin? In any case, better to hear it directly from a few Eagles themselves:
“China Alive was really fun, and we got to learn things in a different way than we normally do. We got to cook together, and there were also lots of cool challenges. Overall, middle school was not as stressful as we expected, and we like that we have more freedom and more choices.” –Nathalee, Kenza, and Alyssa ’25
“Most memorable was Relay for Life. At one point, everyone was getting tired in the afternoon and someone pulled out a giant speaker and started blasting really bad, cheesy music, the kind of songs that everyone cringes at, but knows. And then other groups brought out speakers and started playing different bad music. It was really fun to be part of the whole group that day and night.” –Debbie ’22
“最让我难忘的是Relay for Life。
“My favorite moment this year probably JUST happened. It was watching three quiet, non-theatre boys get up in front of an audience and perform their hearts out in their own unique way of answering the question, ‘What does it mean to be human?’ It was amazing, and I was really really proud of them and their growth.” –Ms. Patrice Parks
“The best thing was recess because I love to run around and play running games. And the swings.” –Finley ’31
“A highlight was the Carousel of Dance. We rehearsed in our small groups, we got to pick out our costumes, and then we all got to rehearse together. It was so cool watching other performers dance, and the best part was getting to dance and perform myself.” – Rebecca ’24
“Battle of the Books. We met Laurel Snyder and had a great day. We got to meet people from different schools who had all read the same books, and it was great to spend a day with other people who love reading as much as I do.” –Robyn ’26
“My favorite moments have been anytime the families have been with us, engaging in whatever we are doing. These times really reflect who we are as school, and it is so meaningful to see our community involved in student learning. It makes all the difference.” – Mr. David Stevens
“The last rugby game of the season. At the start of the rugby season, Puxi crushed us. We knew we’d gotten better, but we didn’t know how it would go facing them again. We made a commitment to play as a team and we were determined to have a good last game, no matter the outcome. And then we totally won.” –Vasu ’22
With that, we close this chapter at SAS, wishing well to all dear ones who are off onto new adventures. We are full of gratitude that we get to be part of this amazing community. Farewell, 2018-2019. In all ways both surprising and expected, it was one for the record books.
