俚语学习之as clear as mud

as clear as mud这个习惯中的“clear”是“清楚”，“mud”是“泥巴”，这两个单词根本就是风马牛不相及，因为“泥巴”从来都是“浑浊肮脏”的，不可能是“干净”的。

那会不会是这个习语有问题？

其实这个习语类似中文的反话，“像泥巴一样干净”，说白了就是“非常脏”、“非常浑浊”，因为没有泥巴是干净的，这个习语可以引申为“莫名其妙”、“难以理解”。例如：This doesn't make sense. It's as clear as mud.这说不通。简直是莫名其妙。
